Rodarte at New York Fashion Week

So not everyone is fortunate enough to land tickets for major fashion week shows but since last summer there has been a huge rise in shows being streamed live online.  I was just looking through Twitter (yes I gave in and joined!) as it is a great portal to see whats going on in the 'now', lots of fashion bloggers and journalists give up to date information and are constantly uploading pictures live from the shows.  Someone put the link to watch the Rodarte show on the SHOWstudio, so I thought as I had some free time I would watch the show.  I am so glad I did because unlike any other shows online I really felt like I was there!  The video started pre show following the guests (you could even here some of the conversation) and them setting up with the lighting of the candles.  I took screen prints of what was going on to share with all my readers.

Rodarte A/W 2010 theme was sleepwalkers and the middle of the night dreamlike dressing, also with inspiration coming from the border town of Juarez, Mexico.

The show started with a mass of candles being lit, creating a dream like catwalk.  The beginning of the show didn't "wow" me as much as Rodarte's previous collection however as the show went on I loved the whimsical theme that was coming through with the various fabrics draped in figure flattering positions.  With celebrities such as Natalie Portman in attendance, I cannot wait to see such designs gracing her.  The garments were very 'dream like' with light, flowy and sheer fabrics in shades of white.
As the show came to an end I love the way that they used black lights which showed of the garments in a new way.  This created very interesting silhouettes and was a show stopping end, the overall collection was a massive success judging by the massive round of applause...
two words to sum up the spectacular show would be 'dreamy romance'...
